The joy of the re-read

Brandon Sanderson is my favorite author and I will buy and read anything he writes.

Over the years I have fallen into the habit of re-reading (or re-watching) a series from the beginning as soon as the next book (or season) lands. Usually a sufficient amount of time has passed to allow me to experience the joy and pleasure of encountering those characters as though for the first time.

I have many favorite books I am looking forward to immersing myself in again in 2026. Starting with the Way of Kings. This time, I plan to annotate my print versions while listening to the audio versions, because I want to maximize my immersion in this world.

Here’s my Fantasy Fiction re-read wish list for the spring 2026:

  • The Way of Kings – Stormlight Archive, Book 1
  • Words of Radiance – Stormlight Archive, Book 2
  • Anathem – Neal Stevenson
  • Seven Eves – Neal Stevenson
  • Wizard’s First Rule – Terry Goodkind
  • Half of a Yellow Sun – Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie

Look at those beautiful book covers 🤩

Bonus

On the TV series end, I’m still working up the energy to watch Season 4 of The Witcher which has been out since October, 2025. Henry Cavill is my absolute favorite actor, and I’ve been so unenthusiastic about watching Liam try to fill his shoes for the remaining two seasons.

I am also so overdue for a re-watch of Altered Carbon and The Expanse!
